Coronary artery distensibility is impaired in HIV patients without significant coronary atherosclerosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background HIV infection is associated with an increased likelihood of coronary artery disease (CAD) and related events, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. Reduced coronary distensibility (CD) may contribute to the development of atherosclerosis and is present in CAD patients. While aortic distensibility (AD) is known to be reduced in HIV, CD in HIV patients has not been studied. We tested the hypothesis that CD is reduced in HIV patients, even before the development of CAD, and that the reduction in CD correlates with changes in AD, reflecting diffuse changes in vascular material properties in HIV+ patients.

Background and Aim: Despite previously shown relationship between the aortic atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease, the relationship between aortic distensibility and the presence, extent and composition of thoracic aortic plaques (TAP) is not widely assessed. We evaluated the relationship between aortic distensibility and the presence, extent and composition of TAP in current research. ...

Abstract Background and objectives: Coronary Artery Disease is one of the most important causes of death in the world. Atherosclerosis is a complex disorder and many factors cause it . In recent years , a relationship between infectious agents, particularly Chlamydia pneumonia, and atherosclerosis was found. This research was aimed at serological studying of Chlamydia pneumonia in the coronary ...
متن کاملArterial Stiffness and its Correlation with the Extent of Coronary Artery Disease
Introduction: Coronary artery disease secondary to atherosclerosis is the most common cause of mortality. Coronary angiography is the most precise method for determining the extent of disease in the coronary vascular bed. Arterial stiffness has been proposed as a marker of atherosclerosis in some studies. One of the noninvasive methods for the determination of arterial stiffness is Doppler echo...

Background: Epidemiological studies have suggested an association between higher body iron stores and coronary artery disease. It is believed that inflammation and oxidation are important mechanisms involved in the complex pathological process of atherogenesis. Free radical production is catalyzed and accelerated in the presence of iron. The determination of plasma ferritin levels is a convenie...
متن کاملEarly Clinical Outcomes and Mortality of Coronary Endarterectomy in the Left Anterior Descending Artery: A Single-Center Experience
Introduction: Although coronary endarterectomy is not an ideal procedure, it is the only available option for cardiac surgeons in some patients with diffuse coronary artery disease. Based on the majority of conducted studies, the results of coronary endarterectomy (including survival, graft patency, and recurrence of the symptoms of myocardial ischemia) are less prevalent than standard coronary...
